Medication Management Classes

Long-term candidates for treatment with narcotic pain medication may be referred to a series of three (3) educational classes.

Topics covered include:

• Expectations and policies of the practice (compliance)
• Building trust with your physician
• Appropriate management of medication (safe-keeping, lost/stolen procedures)
• Education regarding dependency vs addiction issues
• Education regarding classes of medications commonly encountered in a pain clinic
• Coping skills to be practiced in addition to medication
• Review of symptoms for depression and anxiety often associated with chronic pain
