ASSESSMENT
/ GOAL
DEVELOPMENT
When circumstances are such that the individual is unable to return to their previous employment or occupation, financial uncertainty (also associated with anxiety and depression) may further exacerbate stress and pain. Evaluating vocational interests often brings forth past accomplishments and/or prospective transferrable skills to enhance development of new vocational goals. The career assessment inventory is a useful tool for beginning this exploration which also incorporates the patient's aptitudes and residual functional capacities. This process typically transpires over a 4-6 week interval and can be readily incorporated with other program services in a comprehensive rehabilitation effort.
