MISSION
STATEMENT:
Our mission
is to
provide
coordinated,
comprehensive
rehabilitation
to individuals
suffering
chronic
pain syndrome.
A functional
restoration
model
addressing
physical
deconditioning,
body mechanics,
pain behaviors,
inappropriate
medication
use, psychological
and social
factors
inhibiting
recovery
is employed.
This is
in contrast
to the
palliative
measures
that have
been proven
ineffective
in restoring
normal
functioning
in this
patient
population.
PROGRAM
ADMISSION
CRITERION:
- Majority
of patient
are
in the
Workers
Compensation
system
(others
may
be admitted
under
special
circumstances).

The
patient
has
had
persistent
pain
complaints
for
six
months
or more,
that
have
not
been
sufficiently
alleviated
by traditional
interventions
to permit
a return
to normal
function.
- The
patient's
physical
condition
is stable
and
they
are
capable
of ambulating
without
assistance.
" The
patient
is unable
to work,
or on
light
modified
duty.
- Pain
behaviors
and
functional
impairment
is disproportionate
to diagnosed
complaints.
" A
diagnosis
of myofascial
pain
and/or
evidence
of physical
deconditioning.
- Presence
of depression,
anxiety,
anger
or fear
at levels
affecting
recovery
but
not
so severe
as to
inhibit
success
in treatment.
- Barriers
or secondary
gain
issues
that
inhibit
recovery.
